Root Beer Frosting Recipe
This root beer frosting recipe goes great with the root beer cupcakes recipe I provided earlier. It also lends itself great to top off many other flavors of cupcakes too.
Root Beer Frosting Recipe
1 3/4 c. confectioners sugar (powdered sugar)
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) unsalted butter at room temp
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
6 Tbs. root beer
Gradually add the confectioners sugar to butter until well mixed. Add the vanilla and the root beer. If necessary, add more root beer or confectioners sugar to reach desired spreading consistency.
Ours turned out a lot more like a glaze than it did a frosting. (could maybe be because I allowed the kids to do it?). Regardless, the second time around, we wanted our cupcakes to be more like Root Beer Float Cupcakes anyway, so we actually mixed the root beer frosting concoction recipe with vanilla frosting from the store. That turned out delicious and much easier to decorate with a root beer candy on top.
Overall this recipe was super easy to make, however I think I would recommend doing it yourself rather than letting the kids have at the cookbook.
