I honestly don’t even know what to think of this whole hooplah surrounding Rachel Ray and her Dunkin Donuts ad wearing a scarf. Have you heard about this? Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably seen it mentioned on TV at least once in the past few days.

Here is the offending ad:

Are you kidding me? Apparently, Dunkin’ Donuts has canceled their online advertisement which featured their celebrity chef, Rachael Ray. Why? See that cute little black and white fringed scarf she’s wearing? Apparently, some believe that it is symbolic support for terrorism. Yes, because I am sure that Rachel thought that when she picked it. Come on!

According to news sources “Critics, including conservative commentator Michelle Malkin, complained that the scarf appeared to be traditional garb worn by Arab men.” They also claim that “Such scarves have come to symbolize Muslim extremism and terrorism.”

I am shocked. Rachel Ray is one of my favorite gals on TV for cooking shows. She is funny, personable, friendly, sweet and what appears to be quite caring. Obviously the exact opposite of what these conservative commentators want us all to believe. Or rather, are they pointing fingers at just Dunkin’ Donuts? It is difficult to see when you read the various articles circulating the net. Regardless, I find the whole thing appalling. The scarf is cute, if I could pull off a look like that, I’d do it. And I *don’t* support terrorism.

I think the worst part is, that I wish DD hadn’t have pulled the ad. So now people can dictate to us what we wear because it “reminds” them of something? Man. Sometimes I wonder about our society.
